Do you have banks that you have to break to open?

We recommend that you use Crazy Glue and glue the rubber stopper in a bank if you purchase a bank with a stopper. We do offer an assortment of plaster banks that are made in Mexico that have no stopper. You can find those on the “no stopper” page under the Jumbo Tab.

What banks do you have that do not have rubber stoppers?

You need to click on the metal page. Many of the banks on that page are opened with a key or a combination and do not have rubber stoppers.

 Is there lead in the paint of any bank?

We have asked our vendors if there is lead in any of the paint. All vendors say no. The FDA tests tableware to guarantee there is no lead. Even though the banks are not tableware they are made of the same ceramic and same paint in the same manufacturing plants. We are unaware of any lead paint on any bank.

What vendors do you buy from?

We purchase banks from 70-80 different vendors. Mud Pie is the only well know bank vendor. Many customers like the hat box packaging from Mud Pie. Sadly, Mud Pie is packaging fewer and fewer banks in their famous hat box package. They even ship us some banks in NO box!

How do I navigate BanksBanksBanks?

You have several ways to navigate the site.

• By category – Across the top are several major category buttons. If you hover over one, you will get a drop down menu that shows you all of the categories found there. If you then click on the category you want, you will be taken to that page. We have lots of categories. In the middle of the Home Page, we feature one bank from each category. These are the same categories shown in the drop downs.
• By name - There is a SEARCH box in the upper right corner. #1 Type in what type of bank you are looking for. For example, you can type in elephant or hippo. #2  You can search for similar banks. As an example, you purchased a bank that begins with the letters UG. If you type in UG, you will see all of the similar banks. #3 You can type in Item #.
• By material – Under the JUMBO tab are some materials such as silver/pewter, metal or plastic. Since most of the banks are made from resin or ceramic we do not have cateogies for them. The material categories are also in the center of the home page.
• By price – If you have a low budget, we have made it easier for you. Under the ARTIST tab you can click on $5 or $10 banks..
• ARTIST - we have six different artists that create banks exclusively for us.

Why do you ship via UPS?

We used to ship by FedEx but we were given lower rates by UPS. We will ship USPS to certain locations but these shipments can cause a lot of frustration and frequently costs more. We prefer to ship UPS where you can track your package and know when it will arrive at your doorstep. You need to enter your email address into the order to receive tracking. We do not sell or use this email address for anything other than your order. We CAN ship FedEx. If you have a FedEx account number or a specific reason why we need to ship FedEx that is possible.

 Why do UPS shipping charges differ from what shopping cart calculated?

The cost to ship UPS Ground (residential or commercial) is calculated using ACTUAL weight. Since most of our shipments are shipped Ground, we enter ACTUAL weight into our shopping cart for freight calculation. This works well. The problem occurs with Overnight, 2^nd Day or 3^rd Day. The shipping cost for these packages is calculated using DIMENSIONAL weight. Dimensional weight has nothing to do with the weight of the item and only uses the average weight for that size of box within all of UPS.

It is impossible to enter the dimensional weight into our shopping cart. Therefore, most Express calculations are not correct. The weights can be dramatically different – like 7 lbs for ACTUAL vs. 37 lbs for DIMENSIONAL. This is very frustrating and time consuming. We have to call each customer and ask them if they want to pay the additional amount.

Bottom Line. If you need us to ship Express, you need to be prepared to pay more. Please give us your cell phone number if you will be out and about so you can make a quick decision. 

I don’t like to give my credit card on the Internet.

We’ve been in business for 17 years and we are unaware of any credit card problem for any customer. Our site is secure. However, if you don’t want to use our shopping cart, you can fax it to us at 603-882-6621.  We are not staffed to take orders over the phone except for large quantities.

Personalization - I forgot to include it!

We take NO personalization over the phone. Quickly email us the personalization information. As the Subject put your order number. Make certain the name in your email is the name of the buyer.

 Mexican banks with no stopper?

Yes, our Mexican banks are all made of plaster in Tijuana. They are handpainted and put on roofs in Tijuana to dry. If it rains, the banks won't dry. Thankfully San Diego/Tijuana only get 12 inches of a rain a year. But there is a week now and then when no Mexican banks can be made. None of these banks have their own box. All are made of plaster and have to be broken to access money. Made by Mexicans IN Mexico.

Painted Piggy Banks

The special colors of the classic ceramic piggy banks are painted in New Hampshire. These banks are painted inside but are affected by high humidity. If the humidity is high, we just don't paint because the paint doesn't adhere as it should.
