You will be given a place for your personalization request as you check out. Please continue reading.
It is MANDATORY that all personalization requests are in writing. This is for your protection. If you want JERRY in capital letters, type your request that way. If not, type it as Jerry or jerry. If you know the location you prefer, tell us. If you prefer a specific font, tell us. If you are ordering several banks, tell us which bank has which personalization. Personalized items cannot be returned.
If you request the personalization but do not pay for it, we will automatically charge you so we can process your order as quickly as possible.
You have a choice of personalization: etching or engraving.

Let me explain SAND
etching to you.
1-We use a computer to create a stencil with the name.
2-We tape the stencil to the bank.
3-We fill the stencil with sand.
4-We use blasts of high air pressure on the sand. The high blasts of air
cause the sand to make slight indentations in the metal.
5-We then remove the tape and the sand.
What is left is the slight indentations. It will be slightly rough to the
touch. This is permanent and cannot be removed. The indentations are so close
together you hardly notice them.
If the surface we are etching is flat, the personalization will turn out
perfectly. If the surface we are etching is curved, the edges don't get the same
amount of air blast and are lighter in color. (The indentation of the sand
wasn't as much.) There is nothing that we can do differently. Sometimes it's the
top and/or bottom of the letters that are lighter - sometimes it's the letters
at the edge. It all depends on the curves of the bank.
We select the area on the bank that is the flattest unless you have a
specific location you request. When you request your personalization, stop and
think for a moment as to what you want said. Some banks have very little flat
area. Ask yourself these questions? How big is this bank? How big of an area do
I think there is for personalization? You can do a mock up. Type out what you
want written. If it is too long, you could consider putting part of the
personalization on one side of the bank and part on the other. This doubles the
cost of personalization; but, you might like the result better.
As an example: you might want to put Arthur on a bank that has a flat area
that can handle 3 letters. You can switch from Arthur to Art. Or, you can
request Arthur and know that all letters will not have the same boldness. They
will all be readable - but vary in shade. Personally, this does not bother me -
but you know yourself. Will it bother you?
You also need to understand that etching is done by hand. It is not done by
machine. We do use a leveler - but with curved banks sometimes the question is -
level with what? We had one lady complain that the name was off by 1/16th of an
inch. If you are the type of person who is going to measure to the tiniest
fraction, do not select a type of personalization that is done by hand. Buy the
bank without personalization and take it to a local trophy shop and pay them $20 or so to have it
done by machine.
We have etched thousands of banks and can count on our fingers the number of
complaints. I am writing this to eliminate those few complaints. We do the best
we can. We are not charging enough to call each person and discuss the pro's and
con's of how many letters, where to locate personalization. We recommend that
you let us decide the location; unless you have a strong feeling as to where you
want it to be. We truly want you to be happy and we will do our very best with what
you have requested.
Etching normally delays shipment by one business day and is done in our
warehouse.

Engraving:
Laser engraving is done by machine and is indented into the material.
This is permanent. Engraving will delay shipment by 7-10 business days. We
outsource our laser engraving to a local trophy shop. Quantity has to be 10 or
more.
