This Green Man skull bank has leaves covering its head which are held in place by the crown of a king. There are more leaves above and below the teeth. The Green Man motif is found in many cultures around the world always relating to natural vegetative deities.
The Green Man can be interpreted as a symbol of rebirth, or "renaissance," representing the cycle of growth each spring. Al Gore with his global warming warning brings a more current interpretation.
The term "Green Man" was coined by Lady Raglan, in her 1939 article "The Green Man in Church Architecture" in The Folklore Journal. Hand painted on resin. Dimensions: 5" x 7 1/4" x 6 1/2" High
